Clinical Editorial & Peer-Review Policy
Healthcare decisions require uncompromising precision. At BioTB, our editorial mandate is grounded in peer-reviewed medical consensus, clinical guidelines established by institutions like ICMR and WHO, and mandatory review by board-certified specialists.
1. Core Clinical Editorial Mandate
BioTB does not publish unverified wellness trends, speculative therapies, or sponsored medical articles. Every clinical guide, diagnostic explanation, and treatment overview must satisfy three immutable criteria:
Evidence-Based Consensus
Information must derive from randomized controlled trials (RCTs), meta-analyses, and peer-reviewed consensus statements published by recognized clinical authorities.
Practicing Clinician Review
Content is vetted and signed off by actively practicing specialists registered with the Delhi Medical Council (DMC) or National Medical Commission (NMC).
Commercial Independence
Zero commercial influence. No pharmaceutical manufacturer, private hospital, or doctor can pay to alter medical content or modify recommendations.
2. The 4-Stage Medical Editorial Workflow
Every clinical document follows an audited 4-stage publication lifecycle prior to indexing:
Literature Review & Clinical Drafting
Medical writers with postgraduate health science credentials analyze the latest Cochrane reviews, ICMR guidelines, PubMed citations, and specialty societies (e.g. Cardiological Society of India, Indian Chest Society).
Board-Certified Specialist Peer Review
A specialist physician practicing in the relevant field (e.g., DM Cardiologist for coronary disease, MS/MCh Orthopedics for joint arthroplasty) conducts line-by-line clinical verification for accuracy, dosages, safety contraindications, and emergency warnings.
Integrative Care Safety Audit & Fact Checking
Our clinical integrity desk validates that complementary systems (Ayurveda, Naturopathy) are strictly bounded to prevent dangerous herb-drug interactions or delay of acute emergency care.
Annual Clinical Audit & Schema Publishing
Articles are published with full Schema.org MedicalCondition and FAQPage structured data, stamped with a clinical audit registry number, and scheduled for mandatory recertification every 12 months.
3. Evidence Grading Framework
BioTB adheres to internationally standard Classes of Recommendation and Levels of Evidence adapted from the American College of Cardiology (ACC), European Society of Cardiology (ESC), and the Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine:
Evidence or general agreement that a given treatment or procedure is beneficial, useful, and effective. Always recommended as primary standard of care.
Weight of evidence/opinion is in favor of usefulness/efficacy. Reasonable and appropriate for clinical adoption.
Usefulness/efficacy is less well established by evidence/opinion. May be considered in selected refractory cases.
Evidence or general agreement that the treatment is NOT useful/effective and in some cases may be harmful. Strictly contraindicated.
4. Integrative Medicine & Safety Boundaries
India possesses a rich tradition of AYUSH systems (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy). BioTB recognizes licensed AYUSH practitioners registered under State Ayurvedic Councils or the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM). However, our editorial standard maintains an uncompromising clinical boundary:
Emergency & Critical Care Exclusivity: Acute life-threatening emergencies (acute coronary syndrome, ischemic stroke, severe sepsis, surgical abdomen, traumatic hemorrhage) must be managed exclusively at Level-1/2 emergency trauma and allopathic tertiary centers. BioTB prohibits recommending alternative remedies in acute triage scenarios.
Herb-Drug Interaction Audits: All integrative articles must clearly state pharmacological interaction risks (e.g. herbal coumarins interacting with modern antiplatelets, nephrotoxic risks of unpurified heavy metal bhasmas, and glycemic clashes).
Classical Evidence Standardization: Ayurvedic therapies listed on BioTB are referenced against the Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India (API) and Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) protocols.
5. Commercial Independence & No Pay-to-Rank Policy
BioTB operates with strict architectural segregation between commercial operations and medical editorial integrity:
The BioTB Medical Integrity Covenant:
- Physicians, clinics, and hospital networks CANNOT pay for preferred placement, favorable editorial commentary, or higher TrustScores.
- Verified negative reviews authenticated via valid prescription and OPD receipts CANNOT be removed or suppressed by paying fees.
- Editorial reviewers receive fixed honoraria unrelated to page traffic, commercial click-throughs, or provider revenue.
- Any institutional affiliation of our Medical Advisory Board members is transparently disclosed on their public profiles.
6. Corrections & Clinical Errata Protocol
Medicine is constantly advancing. If a practicing clinician or researcher identifies an outdated guideline, medication dosage change, or newly published randomized trial that impacts our content, our editorial board investigates immediately.
