Our mission
Choosing a doctor or hospital is one of the most consequential decisions a family makes, and it is often made in a hurry, on the basis of a relative's recommendation, a hoarding on the highway or a search result that was paid for. Patients rarely have a reliable way to compare a cardiologist's training and experience, to know whether a hospital's laboratory is NABL accredited, or to tell a genuine patient review from a planted one.
BioTB exists to close that gap. Our mission is to give every patient clear, verified and independently ranked information about the people and places that provide their care, written in plain language and kept up to date. We hold ourselves to the standards of a medical publisher rather than an advertising platform: every fact we publish should be checkable, every ranking explainable, and every clinical statement traceable to a recognised source.
What we publish
BioTB publishes four kinds of information. Each is held to its own written standard.
Verified provider profiles
Profiles of individual doctors and of healthcare facilities: multi-speciality and apex hospitals, clinics, AYUSH centres (Ayurveda, naturopathy and related systems) and diagnostic laboratories. A doctor's profile covers qualifications, specialty, years of practice, the hospitals or clinics where they consult, OPD timings and consultation fees where available. A facility profile covers departments, accreditations such as NABH or NABL where they apply, emergency services and location. BioTB currently lists 5157 verified doctors and 553 verified hospitals, clinics, AYUSH centres and diagnostic labs.
TrustScore™ rankings
Where we rank providers, we use the BioTB TrustScore™ clinical analysis engine, which combines six weighted signals into a single, explainable score. The signals, their weights and how ties are handled are published in full on our TrustScore™ ranking methodology page, so that any patient or provider can see why a profile sits where it does.
Clinical condition guides
Plain-language guides to medical conditions that explain symptoms, when to seek care, which specialist usually treats the condition and what to ask at a first appointment. Guides are written and sourced according to our editorial standards for medical content and cite recognised references such as WHO and ICMR guidance and Cochrane reviews.
BioTB Match™
BioTB Match™ is our Clinical AI triage assistant. A patient describes symptoms or a need in their own words, and Match™ suggests the type of specialist to consider and verified providers nearby. Match™ helps people find the right kind of care; it does not diagnose, prescribe or replace a consultation, as our medical disclaimer explains.
Alongside these, we publish prescription-verified patient reviews: reviews that are only accepted when the reviewer can show evidence of a real consultation, under our patient review guidelines.
Where BioTB is live
BioTB currently publishes audited listings for two regions: Lucknow and Delhi NCR. In these cities, every listed provider has been through our verification process and is subject to scheduled re-checks.
We are preparing coverage for 48 further cities across India. These cities are in a pre-audit stage: we are gathering and checking provider records, but we do not describe them as live and we do not rank providers there until the same verification standard has been met. We would rather cover fewer cities accurately than many cities loosely, so expansion follows verification, not the other way round.
How information is verified
Before a provider appears on BioTB, its core facts are checked against primary evidence rather than taken on trust: qualifications and practice history for doctors, and accreditation, departments and services for facilities. Practical details that change often, such as OPD timings and consultation fees, are re-checked on a schedule and whenever a patient or provider reports a change. For example, if a doctor's OPD days change at a Lucknow hospital, the profile is updated once the change is confirmed with the hospital or the doctor's clinic, and the review date on the page moves forward.
Patient reviews go through a separate check: we confirm that the reviewer actually consulted the provider before the review counts towards a TrustScore™. The full process, including what evidence we accept and how often each type of fact is re-verified, is set out in our verification methodology for doctors, hospitals and reviews. Where provider facts and clinical guidance come from is documented on our sources and data provenance page.
Who governs medical standards
BioTB's clinical standards are governed by the BioTB Medical Advisory Board, a group of practising and academic clinicians. The Board sets the clinical rules behind TrustScore™ signals and Match™ triage, approves the standards our condition guides are written to, and reviews disputed clinical questions. Board members work under written conflict-of-interest rules, which are published with the Board's role and governance.
Every profile and guide on BioTB shows when its facts were last reviewed, so readers can judge how current the information is.
How BioTB is funded and how we stay independent
Patients do not pay to use BioTB. Like most health publishers, we may earn revenue from clearly labelled commercial arrangements, but those arrangements are kept separate from our editorial and ranking work. BioTB operates a zero pay-to-rank policy: rankings cannot be bought, there are no sponsored rankings, and a provider's commercial relationship with BioTB, if any, has no effect on its TrustScore™, its position in search results or the reviews shown on its profile.
Anything commercial on BioTB is labelled where it appears. Our advertising and commercial independence policy sets out what we accept, what we refuse, and how sponsored material is marked so it cannot be mistaken for editorial content.
